Recycling Advisory Issued

RECYCLING ADVISORY

April 2, 2020

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Village of Mineola has implemented modified sanitation collection schedules.

To facilitate these modified collections, we changed our recycling schedule to commingled recyclables and newspaper collection, every other week, on Thursdays and Fridays.

Residents are advised that they may not combine their newspaper and commingled recyclables into one container for collection.

Combining newspapers and recyclables has created a major issue for our village at the recycling facility which will soon begin rejecting loads that are mixed as stated.

Combined newspapers and recyclables will be left at the curb for the homeowner to remove until separated.

Here is what is recyclable:

Commingled Recyclables are CLEANED glass bottles and jars, metal, aluminum or tin cans, aluminum foil, metal pots and pans, and No. 1 or No. 2 plastic bottles (numbers are in each bottle’s recycling logo)

Newspaper Recycling includes only newspaper, magazines, paper bags, junk mail, shredded paper, white paper, and unstained cardboard boxes

PLEASE NOTE:  Pizza Boxes are NOT recyclable due to cooking oil contamination.  They should be discarded with regular trash.

Please call the Village Clerk’s office at (516) 746-0750 with any questions.
