Winter Storm Approaching

Residents advised to prepare now

Sunday January 31, 2021

Our region will likely experience a major snowstorm beginning tonight and may continue through as late as Tuesday.

Village staff have been preparing since Thursday and will be ready to respond to whatever the storm brings.

While it is still unclear how much snow will fall, we can be certain that this storm will bring significant accumulations and hazardous driving conditions.

Residents should begin preparing now.

Residents are reminded that once snowfall reaches 2 inches, all vehicles must be removed from all roadways.  Please DO NOT wait until snow begins falling to move vehicles.  Since we know snow is coming, begin planning now to have vehicles off the street.  This is critical if we are to plow roadways.

To ensure roadways are clear for plows and emergency responders, Code Enforcement officers will be out throughout the storm ticketing vehicles on roadways.  Please avoid being ticketed by removing vehicles from streets.

Due to plowing and poor driving conditions, we are also encouraging residents to limit travelling until after the storm ends and plowing is completed.  If possible, please remain at home starting tonight.

When clearing driveways and sidewalks, residents and business owners may not throw snow into streets.  Doing so hinders plowing operations and prevents us all from having cleared streets after the storm.  Placing snow into roadways is also against Village Code for which summonses can be issued.  Instead, please place snow on your own lawn or aprons.

Vehicles may be returned to street after plowing is completed.  Please do not place vehicles in streets as soon as snow stops, as plows will need to continue clearing streets for several hours afterwards.  Notice when plowing is complete will be posted on the Village website and social media.

Any residents experiencing a power outage during the storm should call PSE&G at 1-800-490-0075.

The Village website and social media will also have updated information throughout.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation and patience during this snow event.
