National Public Works Week

Tom Rini and Mayor Pereira hold a proclamation

On May 4, the Mineola Board of Trustees voted to declare May 15 - 21, 2022 as “National Public Works Week,” a time to recognize the essential services provided by Public Works Departments across the country.

The theme for this year’s National Public Works Week is “Ready and Resilient,” which highlights the ability of Public Works personnel to be ready at a moment’s notice to react as first responders to emergency incidents. Public Works professionals help keep the Village of Mineola running by maintaining an infrastructure of services in emergency management, transportation, streets, water, wastewater, landscaping, stormwater, sustainability services, and engineering. These services help make the Village of Mineola a great place to live and work.

Mayor Paul A. Pereira stated, “As a community, we are mindful of the efforts these public works employees make every day, and this week is about letting them know how much they are appreciated.”
