Face Mask and PAUSE Executive Orders Issued

Governor Cuomo issued the following Executive Order which takes effect tonight, Friday April 17 at 8:00pm:

“Effective at 8 p.m. this Friday, anyone who is over the age of two and able to medically tolerate a face-covering will be required to cover their nose and mouth with a mask or cloth face-covering when in a public place and unable to maintain, or when not maintaining, social distance.”

Our Nassau County Presiding Officer Richard Nicolello clarified this Executive Order:

“This language is not exactly the model of clarity. The bottom line is that residents must wear masks or face coverings when in indoor places open to the public (e.g., grocery stores), when using public transit, or when outdoors if it is not possible to maintain social distancing.”

Governor Cuomo issued an additional Executive Order extending New York State’s “PAUSE” restrictions until at least May 15.

This means non-essential workers must continue to stay home and social distancing rules remain in place.
