CHAPTER 8

 

                  VILLAGE CLERK AND TREASURER

 

§ 8.1  Offices of Clerk and Treasurer

 

  The offices of Village Clerk and of Village Treasurer shall be separate offices unless the Board of Trustees shall, by a duly made resolution in accordance with all applicable law, combine such offices with one another or with a different office.

 

§ 8.2  Appointment and term of office

 

  The Mayor, subject to the approval of the Board of Trustees, shall appoint the Village Clerk and the Village Treasurer and the appointees shall hold office for one year or until duly replaced by a successor.

 

§ 8.3  Deputies

 

  The Mayor, subject to the approval of the Board of Trustees, shall appoint a Deputy Village Clerk and a Deputy Village Treasurer and the appointees shall hold office for one year or until duly replaced by a successor.

 

§ 8.4  Supersession of Village Law

 

  This law supersedes Section 3-302(2) of the Village Law in its application to the Village of Mineola and insofar as it relates to the term of office of the Village Clerk, the Village Treasurer or  any combined office thereof.

 

                        HISTORICAL NOTE

 

  This Chapter is a codification of Local Law #1 of the year 1941 and resolution combining the offices of clerk and treasurer.  It was extensively amended by Local Law # 25, 2000, on April 26, 2000, providing for separate offices of Village Clerk and Village Treasurer.
