The Village Clerk is the Chief Administrative Officer of the Village and is directly responsible to the Mayor and Board of Trustees. The position ensures effective delivery of municipal services by coordinating the activities of various village departments.
The Village Clerk is responsible for maintaining custody of all village resolutions, local laws, reports and communications of the board of trustees, village seal, books, records and papers of the village. The Clerk is also responsible for the maintenance of minutes of all meetings held by the board of trustees and all other appointed boards.
The Clerk is responsible for the production of books and records and responds to FOIL (Freedom of Information Law) requests. The Clerk is also authorized to administer the oath of office to village officers.
Within the Village Clerk's Department are the offices of the Registrar, Tax Department, and the Water Billing Department.
