Village Clerk Joseph R. Scalero reported to the Board of
Trustees that complaints have been received relating to the broadcast audio
levels of recent meetings. The situation has been investigated and the problem
was at the Cablevision end and they have taken corrective action by amplifying
the audio signals. Furthermore, they will visit Village Hall to perform
additional testing to insure the problem is fixed.

Mayor Jack M. Martins asked Sal Cataldo, American Legion Commander, to introduce Nassau County American Legion County Commander, Ned Johnson and County Treasurer Frank Colon. County Commander Johnson presented Mayor Martins and the Village of Mineola with a Blue Star Flag which signifies family members serving in the military and a plaque explaining the history behind the Blue Star Flag.

Mayor Jack M. Martins announced that the Village of Mineola has received a check for over $53,000 representing Mineola’s portion of the sales tax revenue from Nassau County and thanked County Legislator Nicolello for his efforts in getting these funds to us. Mayor Martins encouraged everyone to attend one of Mineola’s signature events – “Mineola in Style” combined with “A Taste of Mineola” to be held at Jericho Terrace Thursday, October 15, 2009 and reminded everyone that Mineola High School Homecoming Parade is rescheduled, due to rain, to October 18, 2009 at 1:00 PM.
Trustee Lawrence A. Werther thanked the American Legion for presenting the Blue Star Flag. Trustee Werther reported that October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, that the Library will be having an exhibit on President Lincoln beginning November 13, 2009, and reminded residents that solicitors need to register with the village before
soliciting funds.
Trustee Paul S. Cusato extended his best wishes to Mineola Firefighter Mike Marotta who was deployed back to Afghanistan and congratulated Ex Captain Lewis Buttacoli on being named the Town of Hempstead’s Firefighter of the Year and thanked Town Supervisor Kate Murray for recognizing these extraordinary people. Trustee Cusato commended the Department of Public Works for their efforts in cleaning up fallen trees and debris during today’s high winds and announced that on Saturday October 17, 2009 Mineola High School will hold their annual class reunions and thanked all of them for returning to Mineola and supporting our local economy.
Trustee Thomas F. Kennedy commented that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and that we should all “Think Pink”. Trustee Kennedy stated that the Village of Mineola’s Halloween Party will be on October 30, 2009 at the Community Center from 7:00 PM – 9:30 PM
Trustee Paul A. Pereira commented that the traffic signal at Herricks Road is making a measurable difference already and announced that the Village Dissolution meeting presented by NYCOM will be held at the Mineola High School on October 29, 2009 at 7:00 PM.
