Daniel B. Whalen, requested a hearing date of August 9, 2006 for two special
use applications. Mr. Whalen reported
the May and June financial figures and gave an update of the Building
Department’s activity for the month.
Mayor Martins requested a motion to close the Work
Session at 7:20 PM.

Mayor Martins opened the Public Meeting at 7:50
PM.
Mayor Martins complimented the
Mineola Fire Department chiefs and committee members on their fine work on the Nassau
County Firemen’s Association Drill and Block Party and Parade. Mayor Martins also recognized the Chamber of
Commerce and Nassau Pops for the concert in the park on July 9, 2006.
Trustee Lawrence Werther
congratulated the Mineola Fire Department on the Nassau County Firemen’s
Association four-day event and said that he especially enjoyed the
fireworks.
Trustee Paul Cusato,
Co-Chairman of the Nassau County Firemen’s Association Drill, Block Party and
Parade Committee thanked the residents, Tom Rini, Superintendent of Public
Works as well as Mineola Auxiliary Police Chief Michael Spae and the Veterans
for their participation and support.

John DaVanzo congratulated the Mineola Fire Department committed members on the
Nassau County Firemen’s Association event.
Trustee DaVanzo gave the Mineola Volunteer Ambulance Corps. report for last
month and thanked Manny from Churrasqueira Bairrada for the MVAC fund raiser
last month. Trustee DaVanzo reported that due to the shortage of lifeguards,
regular pool hours would be scaled back until mid August. Trustee DaVanzo
reported that recently the pool rules and regulations had been violated and
that residents needed to comply.
Mayor
Martins added that a general lack of civility has been reported at the pool and
has instructed the Pool Board and staff to take a more aggressive stance on
rude behavior.
Mayor Martins requested a motion to
close the Public Meeting at 10:00 PM.
