Minutes of the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Incorporated Village of Mineola

held Wednesday, June 6, 2007at Village Hall, 155 Washington Avenue, Mineola, New York 11501.

Resolution No. 119-07

 

Resolved to approve the request for an extension of the contract with New York Paving, Inc. for the completion of the Jericho Turnpike project with August 10, 2007 as the new anticipated date of completion.

Resolved to approve the Mineola Mustang Run Committee’s request for the use of Village streets and facilities for the 23rd Annual Mineola Mustang Run/Walk scheduled for Sunday, November 18, 2007.

Building Department Superintendent Daniel B. Whalen reported on revenue and activities of the Building Department for May 2007.

 

Water Department Supervisor Fred Booher reported that the Village’s Annual Water Quality Report had been published and mailed to residents.  Mr. Booher also reported that a supplemental report of samplings had been completed and is available for review at  both the Mineola Water Department and the Mineola Memorial Library.

 

 

Mayor Martins requested a motion to adjourn the Work Session at 7:20 PM.

Mayor Martins opened the Public Meeting at 7:30 PM.

 

Mayor Martins reported on meeting with Senator Craig Johnson regarding the Third Track and various Village projects.  Mayor Martins also reported on a meeting with Harvey Levinson regarding the Village’s reassessment project.  Mayor Martins reported on the Mineola High School 2007 class awards that he attended earlier in the day and recognized Drew Barnett, recipient of the Mayor’s Citizenship Award.  Mayor Martins reported that the Ethics Board had been sworn in earlier in the day and congratulated Ann Hurley on becoming the President of the Mineola AARP.

 

Trustee Lawrence Werther thanked Downtown Coordinator Robert Hinck for his hard work on the Jericho Turnpike project. Trustee Werther recognized Father Paul Dolan of Corpus Christi Church and wished him well at St. Theresa’s in Montauk.  Trustee Werther reported on upcoming Chamber of Commerce events and invited residents to donate blood at the Mineola Memorial Library Blood Drive on June 27, 2007.  Trustee Werther congratulated Terrance Timlin on his election to the position of Library Board President and thanked outgoing President Paul May for his years of service. 

 

Trustee Linda Fairgrieve thanked Mineola’s Veterans for the Memorial Day Parade and ceremony.

 

Trustee Paul Cusato also thanked the Veterans of Mineola for the Memorial Day and ceremony. 

 

Trustee John DaVanzo announced that summer camp opportunities sponsored by the County Seat Kiwanis are available to any needy child ages 8-14.
