Village Clerk Joseph R. Scalero reminded residents that tax bills have been sent out and are due by July 1, 2010 without penalty. Any payments made after July 1, 2010 will incur a 5% penalty for the month of July and an additional 1% per month thereafter.

Mayor Jack M. Martins congratulated the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars for having organized and conducted the Memorial Day Service and Parade and thanked everyone who participated and came out to support our veterans. Mayor Martins stated that he participated in the Mineola High School Service Center Awards and commended the students for their contributions to the community. Mayor Martins updated residents on the Garden City Verizon facility adjacent to 13th Avenue and announced that Mineola had retained its own noise consultant, Lally Acoustical Consultants and that the Village of Garden City and Verizon will acquire their own consultants to work in tandem in resolving this situation. Mayor Martins reported that he had an opportunity to meet with the County Executive Edward Mangano and Supervisor Jon Kaiman regarding the flooding problems at Bruce Terrace and the west end of Carle Place and was happy to state that a resolution to the situation has been proposed wherein Nassau County, the Town of North Hempstead and the Village of Mineola will work together to resolve drainage issues in that area. Mayor Martins gave an update on the Marcellus Road/ Jericho Turnpike sidewalk closure and stated that the sidewalk is still closed due to issues with the contractor, the owners, and the New York State Department of Transportation.
Trustee Lawrence A. Werther thanked everyone who attended the Memorial Day Parade and the Service in the park; stated that Marine Lance Corporal Robbie Barcos, recently back from his first tour of duty, was an honored guest at this event. Trustee Werther announced that last week he became a grandfather when Damien Francis Werther was born.
Trustee Paul S. Cusato congratulated Trustee Werther on becoming a grandfather.
Trustee Thomas F. Kennedy stated that he participated in the Memorial Day Parade and commented that it was a terrific event and thanked everyone who attended. Trustee Kennedy reminded residents of the upcoming Mineola Athletic Association (MAA) Family Fun Day event and thanked outgoing MAA President, Sam Fisher, on an outstanding job and wished him well.
