Minutes of the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Incorporated Village of Mineola held Thursday, April 28, 2005 at the Village Hall, 155 Washington Avenue, Mineola, New York.

A public hearing was continued from April 11, 2005 in order to receive public comment and continue the discussion of the 2005/2006 budget prior to final adoption.  

 

The Maximum compensation proposed to be paid to each member of the

Board of Trustees, all sources, shall not exceed for:

Mayor Martins discussed the $650,000 that the Village will be receiving from the recent negotiations with the MTA for Station Road and the easement on Front Street. Mayor Martins proposed the following applications and resolutions:

 

Resolution No. 115-05

Resolved to apply the $650,000 received from the MTA negotiations for Station Road as follows:

 

            2005/2006 Tax Certiorari                      $500,000

            Master Plan                                            $50,000 

                Centennial                                             $50,000

            Road Resurfacing                                 $50,000

Resolved to reduce auditing figures to $70,000 by reducing the General Fund auditing line to $55,000 and the Water Fund auditing line to $15,000.

Resolved to include employee health benefit contributions ($122,000 general fund, $16,000 library fund and $10,000 water fund) as budget revenue lines for the 2005/2006 fiscal year beginning June 1, 2005.

Resolved to reduce the general fund contingency line to $425,000, the water fund contingency line to $55,000 and the library fund contingency line to $47,900.

Village Auditor Giacomo Ciccone reported the tax rate 21.29 with the library tax at 2.64, the pool tax at 1.06 and general tax at 17.59.  The tax increase the 2005/2006 fiscal year is 8.9%.
