Superintendent of Public Works Thomas J. Rini gave a report on various projects currently underway and announced the Annual Arbor Day Tree Planting will take place April 30, 2010 on Harrison Street and Main Street.

at 7:30 PM.

Mayor Jack M. Martins congratulated the Mineola Athletic Association (MAA) on a very successful opening day parade, reported on the Station Plaza North project, and updated residents on the Village Hall handicap ramp project accessing the west side. Mayor Martins reported on his meeting with Village of Garden City officials regarding the 13th Avenue Verizon project and the noise complaints received and advised that our village attorney is researching legal options if this matter cannot be resolved amicably.
Trustee Paul S. Cusato reported that he attended the MAA parade, congratulated the parents and village staff for their efforts on behalf of the children, and congratulated Trustee Kennedy on receiving the MAA Mayor’s Trophy Award for his work with the MAA softball program. Trustee Cusato also congratulated Jim Sherry of the Mineola Fire Department for being appointed by the Governor to be the Acting Director of the New York State Homeland Security Department and wished him every success.
Trustee Thomas F. Kennedy commented on the handicap ramp at Village Hall and on the work at Station Plaza North. Trustee Kennedy reported that he also attended the MAA parade and commented on the excellent conditions of the playing fields.
Trustee Paul Pereira also commented on the MAA parade; particularly his participation with his 3 year old son. Trustee Pereira further commented on the condition of the trees on Mineola Blvd and how healthy they look and that we should expect the same results with the pruned trees on Jericho Turnpike. Trustee Pereira welcomed Mr. Rich Forestano as the new editor of the Mineola American.
Mayor Jack M. Martins introduced Scoutmaster Scott Strauss and six scouts from Troop 45 that were attending the meeting to earn their” Citizenship and Community” merit badges and congratulated them all.
