Minutes of the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Incorporated Village of Mineola

held Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Village Hall, 155 Washington Avenue, Mineola, New York 11501.

A Public Hearing was held at 6:45 PM at the Village Hall, 155 Washington Avenue, Mineola, NY  11501, in order to receive public comment upon the following:

 

 

APPLICATION OF ANGEL-TECH, INC. FOR A SPECIAL USE PERMIT PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 30 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE INCORPORATED VILLAGE OF MINEOLA ENTITLED “ZONING”, SECTION 30.31 (B) (6), ENTITLED “SPECIAL USES”, TO ERECT A ONE STORY MASONRY REAR ADDITION,  TO EXPAND AN EXISTING AUTO REPAIR USE ON THE PROPERTY KNOWN AS 202 HERRICKS ROAD,  MINEOLA, NEW YORK, KNOWN AND DESIGNATED ON THE NASSAU COUNTY LAND AND TAX MAP AS SECTION 9,  BLOCK 39, LOT 18.

Resolved to declare the application of Angel-Tech, Inc. an unlisted action with a negative declaration under the State Environmental Quality Review Act.

Village Attorney Peter Trentacoste stated that the application would be forwarded to the Nassau County Planning Commission for further review.

 

 

A Public Hearing was held at 7:45 PM at the Village Hall, 155 Washington Avenue, Mineola, NY  11501, in order to receive public comment upon the following:

 

APPLICATION OF G. J. S. RESTAURANT FOR A SPECIAL PERMIT, PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 30 OF THE CODE OF THE INCORPORATED VILLAGE OF MINEOLA, ENTITLED “ZONING,” SECTION 30.104 G TO CONDUCT INTERIOR-EXTERIOR ALTERATIONS TO RE-OPEN PRIOR RESTAURANT FOR PREPARATION AND SALE OF FOOD,     UPON THE PROPERTY KNOWN AS 348 EAST JERICHO TURNPIKE, MINEOLA, NEW YORK, KNOWN AND DESIGNATED ON THE NASSAU COUNTY LAND AND TAX MAP AS SECTION 9, BLOCK 381 LOTS 44.

Resolved to approve the application by G. J. S. Restaurant for a Special Permit to conduct interior-exterior alterations to re-open prior restaurant for the preparation and sale of food upon the property know as 348 East Jericho Turnpike, conditioned on the approval of the Nassau County Planning Commission.

Chief Scott Holliday gave the 2008 Annual Mineola Fire Department Report.

Resolved to approve the request by the Birchwood Court Owners, Inc. for the use of the Community Center Gymnasium for on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM

for their Annual Shareholder Meeting.

Resolution No. 78-08

 

Resolved to approve the request by New York State Comptroller, Tom Di Napoli, for the use of the Village Hall lobby area on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, to provide information and assistance to residents who may be entitled to unclaimed funds by the State of New York.

Mayor Martins announced that the Mineola Athletic Association’s opening day is Saturday, April 12, 2008.  Opening day will begin with a parade starting at 10:00 AM.  The opening day ceremony will immediately follow the parade at 11:00 AM at the Willis Avenue Field.

 

Mayor Martins congratulated Hotshots Gymnastics had their Grand Opening earlier in the day. 

 

Mayor Martins reported on an apartment break-in reported last week in the village.  Mayor Martins reported that he had spoken with Inspector O’Leary and assured residents that the break-in did not involve a shooting. 

 

Mayor Martins reported that the Mineola School Board Elections were approaching.  Mayor Martins reported that the Board of Education is considering the closing of some of our schools and urged residents to get out and vote.

 

Mayor Martins welcomed new Trustee Paul A. Pereira to the Board.
