Minutes of the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Incorporated Village of Mineola

held Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Village Hall, 155 Washington Avenue, Mineola, New York 11501.

Mayor Martins opened the Work Session at 6:30 PM

Centennial Committee Chairpersons Robert W. Hinck, Candia Maia and John S. DaVanzo presented funds remaining from the Village’s Centennial Celebration to various religious organizations from the Mineola Community.

 

Nassau County Legislator Richard Nicolello discussed the use of his name and quotes that appeared in some Hometown Party campaign literature without his permission, noting that he does not endorse any independent nominating committee [parties] in village elections in Mineola or any other village within the 9th Legislative District.  Trustee Paul S. Cusato offered an apology to Legislator Nicolello which Mr. Nicolello stated was unnecessary.

 

Resolution No. 51-08

 

Resolved to approve the request by Cub Scout Pack 246 for the use of Wilson Park for their annual picnic on Saturday, June 28, 2008 (rain date 6/29/08) from 10:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

Resolution No. 52-08

 

Resolved to approve the Willis Avenue School’s request for the use of Wilson Park and facilities on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 (rain date 6/12/08) from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM, for their annual Kindergarten class picnic.

Building Department Superintendent, Daniel B. Whalen, reported on an incident that occurred on March 10, 2008 at 23 Westbury Avenue.  Mr. Whalen reported that both parties were injured and hospitalized and that the dispute was not related to illegal housing. 

 

Mayor Martins opened the Public Hearing at 7:20 PM. 

 

A Public Hearing was held on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at 7:20 PM at the Village Hall, 155 Washington Avenue, Mineola, New York 11501, in order to receive public comment upon the following:

 

APPLICATION OF NEW CINGULAR WIRELESS PCS, LLC FOR A SPECIAL PERMIT, PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 31 OF THE CODE OF THE INCORPORATED VILLAGE OF MINEOLA, ENTITLED “WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS TOWERS AND FACILITIES”,  SECTION 31.4 (A) ENTITLED “REVIEW AUTHORITY” FOR THE MODIFICATIONS AND ADDITIONS OF PUBLIC UTILITY WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATION ANTENNAS ON THE  PROPERTY KNOWN AS 250 OLD COUNTRY ROAD, MINEOLA, NEW YORK, KNOWN AND DESIGNATED ON THE NASSAU COUNTY LAND AND TAX MAP AS SECTION  9,  BLOCK 675,  LOT (S) 2A, 2B & 4.
