Minutes of the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Incorporated Village of Mineola held Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Village Hall, 155 Washington Avenue, Mineola, New York 11501.

Mayor Jack M. Martins congratulated three members of Boy
Scout Troop 45, Daniel Garvey, John Farley, and Daniel McMahon on passing their
Eagle Scout Board of Review earlier this evening.
Mayor Martins also introduced Scott Strauss, Troop 45 Scoutmaster and scouts from Troop 45 as attendance to earn their” Citizenship and Community” merit badges.

6:50 PM.

Superintendent of Buildings Daniel B. Whalen presented a February 2010 department financial report.
Village Attorney John M.
Spellman presented an overview on the Length of Service Award Program (LOSAP) further
explaining the methodology for the qualifying point certification as set forth
by the Mineola Fire Department and stated that Chief Connolly has certified the
accuracy of the point totals and submitted them to the Board for approval.

Mayor Jack M. Martins announced that there will be a FY2010-2011 Budget Work Session March 31, 2010 and a Budget Hearing April 8, 2010, both starting at 6:30 PM.
Mayor Jack M. Martins requested a motion to close the Work Session at 7:15 PM.

Mayor Jack M. Martins reported on his attending the New York Conference of Mayors’ Legislative Priorities meeting. Of particular interest were discussions regarding the New York State Fiscal crisis, the potential loss of state aid and its effect on local budgets, and the consolidation bill. Mayor Martins thanked Boy Scouts of America Troop 45 scouts present tonight as they earned their “Citizenship and the Community” merit badge.
Trustee Lawrence A. Werther congratulated the three new Eagle Scouts from Troop 45, Daniel Garvey, John Farley, and Daniel McMahon and further thanked the Department of Public Works for the fine job they did in clearing snow during a recent storm.
Trustee Paul S. Cusato congratulated the Mineola Kiwanis on their Superbowl Sunday Pancake breakfast and further reported on two upcoming fundraisers –the Mineola Junior Fire Department Pasta Night on March 14, 2010 and the Portuguese Lions Club Breakfast on March 28, 2010. Trustee Cusato commended the emergency service workers such as Mineola Fire Department, Mineola Volunteer Ambulance Corp and the Auxiliary Police on their efforts during the recent snow storms and reminded everyone that the Garden City St. Patrick’s Parade is Sunday March 7, 2010.
Trustee Thomas F. Kennedy also thanked the emergency service personnel on a job well done during the various snow storms this year.
Trustee Paul A. Pereira reminded residents that there will be two opportunities to review the FY 2010-2011 Village Budget – on March 31, 2010 a Budget Work Session and on
April 8, 2010 a Budget Hearing.

Department Warren Bill Gresalfi report on the annual Mineola Junior
Firefighter’s Pasta Dinner.
