Mayor Martins opened the work session at 6:30 PM.
William Kuhl presented the Board of Trustees with design plans for the Streetscape Improvements for Jericho Turnpike from Mineola Boulevard to Willis Avenue.
Mayor Martins discussed the financing for the approximately $900,000 project.

Mayor
Martins congratulated Carlos Mendez of Shortridge Drive who recently signed a
contract to play for the Metro Stars. Mayor Martins also reported that he and
Village Clerk, Michael Arens attended a NYCOM legislative meeting in Albany
where the agenda focused on pension costs and sales tax revenue sharing. Mayor Martins also discussed the plans to
draft a Bill for the legislature with the support of neighboring villages.
Trustee
Lawrence A. Werther thanked Mayor Martins for his efforts to get our share of
sales tax dollars and urged others to support this initiative by writing to
their state legislators. Trustee Werther reported that the Chamber of Commerce
would be hosting
“ A
Taste of Mineola” on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at Jericho Terrace. He also reported on the upcoming events at
the Mineola Library.
Mayor
Martins thanked Trustee Louis Santosus for seventeen years of service to the
Community as an exceptional Trustee.
Trustee
Louis Santosus thanked everyone for their support and said that he was proud to
serve the Village. He also thanked Tom Rini, Department of Public Works and the
Sanitation Department for their recent efforts in managing snow removal and
sanitation collection in bad weather.
Trustee
Fairgrieve also thanked Tom Rini, the Department of Public Works and Sanitation
Department for their hard work. Trustee Linda Fairgrieve reported on upcoming
Winthrop-University Hospital programs.
Trustee
Paul Cusato reported on various MAA programs for children of every age
group. He thanked the staff and
coaches of the M.A.A. and P.A.L. for a great year. He also thanked Tom Rini and the Department of Public Works for
their hard work.
Mayor
Martins recognized members of the Mineola Junior Fire Department and their
leaders who were in the audience and congratulated them on a their program as
well as their recent Pasta Dinner.
