Minutes – Board Meeting  1/12/05

 

Minutes of the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Incorporated Village of Mineola held Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at the Village Hall, 155 Washington Avenue, Mineola, New York.

The public hearing was scheduled for 6:30 PM in order to receive public comment on the following: 

 

           Application of Ominipoint Facilities Network 2, LLC for a Special Permit pursuant to Section 31.4 (A) of the code of the Incorporated Village of Mineola to affix Public Utility Wireless Telecommunication Antennas to roof of an existing building and install related equipment cabinets at the property known as 267 East Jericho Turnpike, Mineola, New York (known and designated on the Nassau County Land and Tax Map as Section 9, Block 259, Lot 45). 

 

The applicant requested an adjournment and will re-schedule a hearing at a later date.  

 

Mayor martins requested a motion to adjourn the public hearing at 6:45 P.M.

Resolved to approve the County Seat Kiwanis Club’s request to hang a banner across Willis Avenue at Garfield Avenue to publicize it’s Annual Pancake Breakfast to held on Superbowl Sunday, February 6, 2005.

Mayor Martins discussed the Mineola Fire Department’s request to hold a block party, drills and parade in July of 2006.  Trustee Paul Cusato stated that an additional date may be added to the original request and that a letter from Chief Strauss would be forthcoming.  Mayor Martins asked that the matter be tabled until the next meeting. 

 

Mayor Martins reported that the Village was looking into extending the existing property tax exemption to the widows of Mineola Firefighters and Ambulance Corps. personnel.

 

Village Attorney, John Spellman stated that everything was in order and that only the administrative aspect needed to be completed.

 

Mayor Martins reported on a letter that he had written to Sheldon Cohen, Director of Nassau County Real Estate Planning and Development, regarding the sale of county property in the County Seat and parking issues resulting from that sale.  He requested a response to his letter before January 18, 2005 and will discuss the outcome at the next meeting. 

 

Village Treasurer, Richard Dwyer reported that he was already working with the department heads on 2005/2006 budget. 

 

Mayor Martins requested a motion to close the work session at 6:50 PM.
