Mayor Jack M. Martins extended his thanks to the Department of Public Works for a fine job in clearing our roadways during the December blizzard, reported on a matter regarding Verizion’s construction in the Village of Garden City near 13th Street, stated that he attended the swearing in of our new County Executive, Edward Mangano, and our County Legislator Richard Nicolello, and had the privilege of swearing in Town Councilman Angelo Ferrara at the Town of North Hempstead inaugural ceremony.

Trustee Lawrence A. Werther extended his wishes for a Happy and Healthy New Year; thanked the Department of Public Works as well as all emergency personnel for the great work they did during the blizzard. Trustee Werther reminded everyone to use caution when answering their door to a utility worker asking to see their bills in order to qualify them for certain programs – this may be a scam.

Trustee Paul S. Cusato thanked those residents that purchased a toy for the “Toys for Tots” program, thanked the Mineola Fire Department for the snow standby service, reported that the Mineola Fire Department’s new pumper truck is now in service, and thanked John Strein who is stepping down as President of the Mineola Athletic Association (MAA), for all of his work with the community.  Trustee Cusato also thanked the Department of Public Works on a fine job clearing the streets during the blizzard.

Trustee Thomas F. Kennedy wished everyone a Happy New Year, thanked the Department of Public Works on a great job clearing the streets contrasting Mineola with other areas that were not cleared of snow following the blizzard.

Trustee Paul A. Pereira reiterated his thanks to Department of Public Works stating that it was easy to know where Mineola’s boundaries end and adjoining towns begin due to the Village of Mineola’s snow removal efforts. Trustee Pereira also thanked the Mineola Fire Department for “Operation Santa”.
