Water Department Supervisor, Fred Booher reported
that the Village’s Water Department produced just over one billion gallons for
2004. He also reported on the
department’s sewer, home and main line activities for the month of
December.
Village Treasurer, Richard Dwyer announced that the
1099’s would be out the following week.
The Village Treasurer had delivered year to date fiscal
report to the members of the board earlier in the week. After reviewing the report, Mayor Martins
and the Board of Trustees agreed that any future transfers or new line items of
$10,000 or more would be reported on a monthly basis.
Trustee Linda Fairgrieve inquired as to why the fee
for the Village’s annual audit had decreased.
Mayor Martins stated that the auditors had agreed to
voluntarily reduce their fees and Richard Dwyer stated that the accounting
department had restructured it’s pre-audit procedures which helped to
streamline the process.
Trustee Louis Santosus commented that most of the
departments seemed to be well within their budgets, but had some concerns about
the Mineola Ambulance Corps.
budget.
Mayor Martins said that the Village would need to
re-evaluate the budget for the Mineola Ambulance Corps.
Trustee Paul Cusato inquired about an article that
appeared in the December issue of Village News issued by the Nassau County
Village Officials Association, regarding sales tax revenue sharing the
distribution of sales tax to Mineola.
The article stated that the Village would be entitled to approximately
$32,000.
Village Attorney, John Spellman said that the Village
would be paid in quarterly installments beginning in April.
Trustee Cusato asked Mayor Martins if there had been
any further communication regarding the Mineola Fire Department’s request to
hold a block party, parade and drill from July 6, 2006 through July 8,
2006. This matter was tabled at the
June 9, 2004 meeting so that dates could be coordinated with the Village’s
Centennial Celebration.
Mayor Martins stated that he would follow-up with the
Centennial Committee and
re-visit the subject at the next board meeting.
Trustee Cusato also asked for an update on the sports
bubble.
Village Attorney, John Spellman replied that he had
been in contact with the presenters of the concept and stated that they were
working on the economic feasibility and financial details.
Mayor
Martins requested a motion to close the work session at 6:55 PM.
