Mayor Martins opened the Work Session at 6:50 PM.

 

Mayor Martins introduced Mrs. Spitola of the Nimble Fingers Quilting group.  Mrs. Spitola and the other members of the Nimble Fingers presented Mayor Matins and the Board of Trustees with a quilt depicting events in Mineola history to commemorate Mineola’s Centennial year.

Resolved to approve the Mineola Athletic Association’s request for the use of the Community Center for winter 2006, on Tuesdays from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, beginning on January 17, 2006, on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM beginning on January 21, 2006 and Sundays from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM beginning on January 22, 2006 through March 31, 2006 for baseball, softball and soccer programs.

Building Department Superintendent Daniel B. Whalen gave the monthly report for December and also gave an update on the use of grant money for computer purchases.

 

Superintendent of Public Works, Thomas Rini reported on repair work for Well #4.

Mayor Martins opened the Public Meeting at 7:40 PM.  

 

Mayor Martins thanked the Nimble Fingers Quilters again for the amazing quilt presented to the Board for the Centennial kickoff and wished everyone a Happy New Year.

 

Trustee Lawrence A. Werther reported on the Chamber of Commerce as well as upcoming Mineola Library events. 

 

Trustee Linda Fairgrieve wished everyone a Happy New Year and gave the Justice Court report.

 

Trustee Paul S. Cusato wished everyone a healthy and Happy New Year.

 

Trustee John DaVanzo wished everyone a Happy New Year.  Trustee DaVanzo reported on the Fire Department scholarship and also reported on the Mineola Ambulance Corps.

 

Mayor Martins requested a motion close the Public Meeting at 9:30 PM.
