At 11:20 am today Mayor Scott Strauss declared a state of emergency in the Village of Mineola due to unpredictable shifting weather patterns and high winds accompanying the current blizzard. This was declaration was deemed necessary when the winter storm effecting Mineola intensified to a blizzard.
This emergency declaration is issued pursuant to New York State law and will enable village departments to better respond to the blizzard's impact and to address any storm related situations as they arise.
The emergency declaration remains in effect until rescinded.
The Village of Mineola has been closely monitoring the storm’s progress all week and made all appropriate preparations in advance, including coordinating with village, town, county, and state emergency planning agencies.
